New Jersey declares a week in May as “Plant Something Week”

May 8, 2015

Condurso’s Garden Center of Montville hosted New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas Fisher and New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association Executive Director Dominick Mondi on Monday, May 2 to read Governor Christie’s proclamation that the week of May 3–9 is “Plant Something Week.”

The Plant Something campaign promotes the benefits of horticulture and is funded by a grant awarded from the U.S. and N.J. Departments of Agriculture.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better day to kick off Plant Something week,” stated Fisher. “The Plant Something initiative started in Arizona about six years ago and has spread to 15 states. Its message is simple: ‘Don’t Just Stand There… Plant Something.’ It urges people to patronize our state’s nurseries and garden centers and to use Jersey Grown materials whenever possible. It represents all that’s great about the Garden State.”
