Harvest pumpkins, winter squash and gourds before frost.

Donate excess produce to neighbors and local food pantries.

Collect seeds from annual and perennial flowers on a dry day.

Toad Lillies (Tricyrtis spp.) are shade-loving fall bloomers with orchid-like flowers.

Plant astilbes in low, damp areas.

As the season nears to an end, pinch off the tops of tomato plants and the new flower buds to hasten the ripening of existing fruit.
